Real Wedding: Karli + Nick

Our first real wedding feature!!!! This beautiful collection of photos was sent over from the wonderful Lauri Levenfeld over at Zoom Photography in LA. Her work is truly inspiring and you guys are in for a treat today!

Karli and Nick met in Malibu while attending Pepperdine University. After a three year relationship, Nick proposed and thus started the wonderful planning process!! Does it get any better than a fall wedding at a farm in California? I think not!

From the beginning, Nick and Karli knew they wanted a wedding that reflected who they were as a couple; casual, easy-going and socially conscious. They loved that Bear Flag Farm in Winters, California offered an environment that was completely organic and supports the “farm to table” concept. The couple wanted the feel of a backyard wedding that was intimate yet gorgeous. I think they captured that quite well!!

The color palette they chose just screams fall and I love the bright orange accents used in the groomsmen’s ties, the bride’s shoes and the groom’s socks! What a great addition! This wedding has a casual rustic vibe that would make any guest feel comfortable and right at home! I’m partial to roses, and the orange variety they used here is spectacular. The flower girl’s pomander is to die for! What a great alternative to a basket and flower petals.

The environmentally friendly theme was used through many aspects of the wedding. They worked with Dauphine Press for eco-friendly letterpress stationery that carried a rustic, orange floral design. The couple’s generosity showed through their donation to the Touch A Life Foundation which was made on behalf of each guest in lieu of favors.

Through the pictures you can sense that this was a fun, laid back day full of love! Everyone looks so relaxed and care-free. The bride and groom put so much hard work into making sure their guests had a great time, even having a box of blankets and “dancing shoes”  available.

So sit back, relax and enjoy the work of the wonderfully talented Lauri Levenfeld!!

There are a lot of pictures….. I have trouble making decisions.

Color Spotlight: Yellow and Grey

Yellow and grey are proving to be a major color trend for 2011. The colors compliment each other really well, mixing a lesser used neutral with such a bright and cheery primary color. Grey and Yellow are really easy colors to use but make sure to use shades that will compliment the season of your wedding. Check out these photos for inspiration for your own wedding:

I love this photo. It’s a great idea to use loads of grey and then add pops of yellow. Also, by having your bridesmaids wear a neutral color they are guarenteed to have a dress they can wear again and won’t go out of style (color wise at least :) )

These pretty little flowers are called Billy Balls. They are such a beautiful shade of yellow and they are easy to incorporate into any wedding. They make really great boutonnieres as you will see in a minute or two. Billy balls are a nice hearty flower that can handle a lot of stress and they add a great vintage feel!

This save the date is another great example of using a load of grey and pops of yellow. This save the date is so adorable, I love that it captures that great summer feeling of catching fireflies! You can already tell that this wedding is going to fun and imaginative.

It’s very important to incorporate the theme and feel of your wedding into your invitation so your guests will have an idea of what to expect. This invitation, which adds white in addition to the grey and yellow, lets the guest know that the event will be fairly informal and will probably incorporate a lot of natural elements. I could see them having a homemade looking buttercream cake with a pair of birds on top to further tie in the theme.

I don’t think I need to say much about these shoes, except that they are fabulous and I need them.

This is a really great image because it gives you an idea of how to change up the shades of yellow and grey and it will completely change the feel of the event. This picture has taken me from a vintage yellow and grey to a more country, rustic yellow and grey. The dresses and matching shoes are great!

In LOVE with these bridesmaids dresses! They are so unique and different, they make me so happy! And the bridesmaids look great in them.

I told you billy balls make great boutonnieres! They look really great with the grey vest and yellow tie. The perfect about of color! If you want to go for a boutonniere that is a little larger billy balls look great paired in threes.
