Dessert in a Jar

Dessert served mason jar style is popping up all over the place. With wedding trends moving more towards natural, earthy, laid back preppy styles this is the perfect addition to such an event. It would be a great way to get all your girls together and make them before the wedding. Something I learned from The Cup here in Saint Louis is that cake stores way better in the freezer! So if you are making these in advance store them in the freezer, not the fridge. You may want to do a test run to make sure your glass jars hold up okay and there is no cracking from the temperature changes.

These jars would also be great for rehearsal dinners, bridal luncheons, and showers!

Here is a great tutorial on how to make cupcakes in a jar! Rubyellen gives you step by step instructions on how to assemble the cupcakes in a jar and if you prefer, baking the cupcakes in the jar!

These jars can serve more than the one obvious (eating them) purpose. You can use them as place settings by writing the guest’s name on top and they can function as favors as well! You could also put random pictures of you as a couple on the lid of the jars for something a little more personal!

Make sure you attach a spoon or fork to the side of the jar so guest’s don’t have to try and hunt one down!
