Color Spotlight: Navy and Bubblegum

Ceremony 1 Comment by Nicole

It’s color spotlight time!!! This is a great color combo that can be used all year! First of all…. I love navy. I do. No doubt about it. But add an unexpected burst of color like this beautiful shade of pink? Wow! You can go so many different ways with this combo.

Take a risk and go nautical and use various ropes for decor. You could also use a navy anchor on all your stationery for a great touch.

You could also go preppy with stripes and tons of flowers. Check out the picture down below with the beautiful bubblegum peonies.

This is definitely one of those color combo’s that you can incorporate into every little detail of your big day without over doing it :)

Metallic Cakes

I am really into metallics right now. Especially gold. I blame my friend Emily, now I look ghetto fabulous on a daily basis. So that got me thinking, what could make a cake ghetto fabulous as well? Duh! Edible metallic paint and fondant!

Check out these gorgeous cakes from across the globe. This trend is definitely catching on.

PS If you see me out wearing my sweet giant gold Michael Kors watch feel free to give me a “HOLLA!” Get one, you know you want to be ghetto fabulous too.

PSS This first cake has gold painted girl scout cookies on it…..umm I think I’ve died and gone to heaven? Where are my tagalongs?! Oh yeah… I ate them all. The day I got them. All 5 boxes…..

Drink of the Week: Champagne, Pomegranate and Clementine Cocktail

Drinks No Comments by Nicole

Try and tell me that this cocktail doesn’t sound like drinking summer out of a glass. I dare you. Plus champagne makes everything classy doesn’t it? If that’s not a rule yet, it should be. Says me.

I have included the recipe since translation required. If you smarties can read/ speak Italian please visit Un Dejeuner de Soleil for the original recipe and story.

Here is the English Translation of the recipe:

  • 250 ml (25 cl) of Champagne or good sparkling brut, all chilled
  • 1 ripe pomegranate (to obtain 100 ml of juice)
  • 150 ml (15 cl) of freshly pressed juice of clementines
  • 20 ml limoncello
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 full tablespoons of brown sugar (or sugar syrup, to taste)

Cut the pomegranate in half and juice. You should get about 100 ml. Use some of the seeds for garnish. Mix with the juice of clementines, lemon juice and limoncello. Add the Champagne and sugar, stir. Serve immediately with ice, or store in refrigerator up to half an hour before serving.

Flower Spotlight: Billy Balls

Flowers 3 Comments by Nicole

If you don’t already know what a billy ball is, you are about to find out. More than likely you’ve seen it a million times you just never knew what to call it! This modern and playful little flower is the perfect shade of yellow and can hold up to almost any wedding day. It’s available all year round and only costs about $1.50 per stem. Billy balls are also known as billy buttons and yellow crespedia (the more technical name). They make a great filler flower or stand up as a great featured flower, either way they really pack a punch! You can also check out our Yellow and Grey post for more billy ball inspiration!
