Drink of the Week: The Shucks Deluxe

Drinks No Comments by Nicole

This summer has been so mild it hardly feels like August. It’s been one of the best summer’s I can remember…. it would be nice to see a few more just like it! I recently saw something that referred to August as the Sunday of summer and I couldn’t agree more. Kids are starting back at school and halloween candy is filling the aisles of the grocery store, a few signs that fall is just around the corner. Today’s drink of the week is to remind us to savor the last few days of summer which always have me reaching for something with peaches in it! Peaches are in season the end of July and August so this drink is perfect for a late summer wedding! Sounds delicious eh?

Drink of the Week: Spiced Cranberry Apple Martini

Drinks No Comments by Nicole

Hello!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July Weekend! I don’t know about everyone else but we had AMAZING weather hear in St. Louis. It was one of the best Independence Day’s I can remember… high 70’s, blue sky’s, breezy- everything I love about spring and fall.

Speaking of fall, I’ve been dreaming about it a lot lately. Don’t get me wrong, I am still down for working on this pathetic tan I’m rocking (yeah we went to the Domincan Republic in May and no I did not come back looking tropical like I planned) but I can’t get the idea of carmel apples and fall spices out of my head. So I thought I would live vicariously through this week’s drink. Cranberry and apple cider in a drink? YES PLEASE! I’m in. And how cute is the apple slice garnish? All you lovely fall brides should definitely consider this one!!

Drink of the Week: Champagne, Pomegranate and Clementine Cocktail

Try and tell me that this cocktail doesn’t sound like drinking summer out of a glass. I dare you. Plus champagne makes everything classy doesn’t it? If that’s not a rule yet, it should be. Says me.

I have included the recipe since translation required. If you smarties can read/ speak Italian please visit Un Dejeuner de Soleil for the original recipe and story.

Here is the English Translation of the recipe:

  • 250 ml (25 cl) of Champagne or good sparkling brut, all chilled
  • 1 ripe pomegranate (to obtain 100 ml of juice)
  • 150 ml (15 cl) of freshly pressed juice of clementines
  • 20 ml limoncello
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 full tablespoons of brown sugar (or sugar syrup, to taste)

Cut the pomegranate in half and juice. You should get about 100 ml. Use some of the seeds for garnish. Mix with the juice of clementines, lemon juice and limoncello. Add the Champagne and sugar, stir. Serve immediately with ice, or store in refrigerator up to half an hour before serving.
