Grey is quickly replacing chocolate as the new neutral to highlight. Remember the color trend of using brown with teal, lavender, pink, ect. Well now it’s grey’s turn, but instead of being paired with pastels, bright colors are being used to stand out against it. You can use this trend just about any time of year and the theme possibilities are endless. Think 70′s retro, Halloween, rustic country or modern. These colors will be a bold statement that you won’t regret!

If you love sangria, this is your time! Make it your signature cocktail! You know you wanna The color alone is gorgeous! The fruit really jazzes things up and makes for a pretty presentation!

Sangria

INGREDIENTS

• 1.5 liters red wine (I use Carlo Rossi Sangria)
• 3/4 cup orange juice
• 1/2 cup white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or another mild white)
• 1/2 cup brandy
• 1/2 cup triple sec
• slices of limes, lemons, oranges (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Mix all ingredients together in a large pitcher. Refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice.

With as hot as it’s been around here lately, it’s time for something fresh on the taste buds. The taste of citrus will lighten things up for your guests instead of the usual beer and wine Try this one out for your spring or summer wedding!

Citrus Cordial

INGREDIENTS

• 5 c water
• 3 c vanilla sugar
• 1 bunch fresh mint
• 3 c juice of a combination of oranges and grapefruit
• juice of 2 lemons
• sparkling or still water to serve

INSTRUCTIONS

Bring the sugar, water, and mint to a rolling boil in a large pot over high heat. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Once boiling reduce the heat to medium and boil for about 8 minutes.

Add the citrus juice and continue to simmer until the liquid thickens, about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat, let cool and strain (I used my French press). Store in clean bottles and refrigerate. Will keep for 1 month.

To serve combine 1 TB of the cordial with a glass of cold water and stir to combine. Makes an excellent cocktail mixer.

*Makes 2 jars worth. Make in bulk prior and pour for each individual serving.

I’m a sucker for tequilla, so this signature drink is right up my aisle (hehe). The color is just beautiful and blood oranges are in season from December to May, perfect for a winter or spring wedding!

Blood Orange Margarita

Ingredients

• 2 oz tequila
• 2 oz orange liqueur
• 2 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice
• 4 oz fresh-squeezed blood orange juice (~3-4 oranges)
• 1 oz simple syrup
• Blood orange slices, for garnish
